of this encyclopedia with a added search features and online versions of
Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Collegiate Thesaurus.
The important advantages of the online version of the Encyclopedia Britannica
over the print version include the ability to link to new topics within articles quickly
and the daily updates.
Search Tips
Britannica's default searches all of the available holdings including the classic
encyclopedia, Student Encyclopedia, Elementary Encyclopedia, Concise Encyclopedia,
Internet Guide, and video collection. While a default search may feel natural, you can
narrow down your options by checking the corresponding boxes.
To search the Encyclopedia itself, mark the box next to Encyclopedia Britannica.
To search for Internet sites, mark the box next to Britannica
Internet Guide. Britannica carefully evaluates the selected webistes for accuracy.
Britannica does not search the entire internet.
To use Merriam-Webster, scroll down to the box and place your search term into
the dictionary or thesaurus option.
Encylopedia Britannica Online also offers the option to search their atlas, to
browse the index, or browse by subject, article, timeline, or year. All of these options
are available at the bottom of the default search page.
